"Adultery" by MRabbi Hillel Ben Yochanan. © 2013 by Nehr HaOlam Publications. "When it comes to something as clearly defined as not inheriting the Elohim's Kingdom, many turn a blind eye and disregard the heavy price." Adultery is the “voluntary sexual intercourse between a married person and a person who is not their spouse” (OED 2013). If you were to go to a local congregation and the community and it was discovered that you either lived or are living in a sexually immoral way, it’s very likely that you’d be identified as being “outside of the Heavenly Father’s will.” For what it’s worth, you’d be rejected and despised. Also, if you insist in attending your host congregation even while you remain living in a sexually immoral manner, you’d be expected to make some corrections in your life prior to being socially acceptable into said host congregation. At least, that’s the Western Culture.

There’s really no way around avoiding this biblical commandment. From His eternal existence, the Heavenly Father took a moment to express His thoughts by inscribing with His own finger what the people of Israel should know, “You must NOT commit adultery” (reference Exodus 20:14 & Deuteronomy 5:18). Some purposely ignore the Heavenly Father’s decree and disregard what Scriptures instruct about the Heavenly Father’s decree. The fact of the matter is that the Bible stipulates that “[…] the man who commits adultery is an utter fool, for he destroys himself” (Proverbs 6:32). In other words, dire consequences are reserved for those who commit such a foolish acts – not just in this lifetime but in the world to come – consequences that we just cannot dismiss (reference 1 Corinthians 6:9-10). Thus, as opposed to encouraging anyone who is a sexually immoral or has a history of being a sexually immoral person, the Bible instructs us with this word of advice: “Give honor to marriage, and remain faithful to one another in marriage. Elohim will surely judge people who are immoral and those who commit adultery” (Hebrews 3:14). Thus, we at Nehr HaOlam Messianic Biblical Society will teach what the Bible says and will not tolerate such a foolish act.
Dire Consequences As previously stated, the Bible teaches us that dire consequences are reserved for those who engage in such a foolish act.

When the Heavenly Father introduced His instruction to the people of Israel, Torah commanded just exactly how we were to treat those who purposely violated His instruction. The Bible says that “If a man commits adultery with his neighbor's wife, both the man and the woman who have committed adultery MUST be put to death” (Leviticus 20:10). As harsh as it sounds, it
was the most appropriate form of justice that the Heavenly Father could have provided for the people of Israel on behalf of those who suffer the emotional trauma that such an evil deed inflicts. Though we no longer enforce this commandment, the Bible does detail that dire consequences are reserved for those who commit such a treacherous deed.

Take notice what The Brit Chadashah (i.e., New Testament) says,
26 Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning (i.e., violating Torah) after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins (i.e., violations to Torah). 27 There is only the terrible expectation of Elohim’s judgment and the raging fire that will consume his enemies. 28 For anyone who refused to obey the law of Moses was put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 Just think how much worse the punishment will be for those who have trampled on the Son of Elohim, and have treated the blood of the covenant, which made us holy, as if it were common and unholy, and have insulted and disdained the Holy Spirit who brings Elohim’s mercy to us. 30For we know the one who said, “I will take revenge. I will pay them back.” He also said, “Hashem will judge his own people.” 31It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living Elohim (Hebrews 10:26-31).

Some will quickly dismiss the idea that the Heavenly Father will not punish those who commit such treachery by mishandling the Scriptures and making it seem as if Hashem will pardon such a wicked person. The biblical facts say otherwise. Contrary to this erroneously false notion that Hashem will defend such a wicked person, the Heavenly Father Himself stated,
“7 How can I pardon you (for adultery)? For even your children have turned from Me. They have sworn by gods that are not gods at all! I fed my people until they were full. But they thanked me by committing adultery and lining up at the brothels. 8They are well-fed, lusty stallions, each neighing for his neighbor’s wife. 9Should I not punish them for this?”says Hashem. “Should I not avenge myself against such a nation?” (Jeremiah 5:7-9)

Like the author of Hebrews stipulated, the punishment of committing adultery is far worse under Messiah’s rulership in contrast to living life without Messiah; that is, the penalty is far greater. Though some may make it seem as if though adultery is a very light matter, the Holy One of Israel says otherwise: “For these men have done terrible things among my people. They have committed adultery with their neighbors’ wives and have lied in My Name, saying things I did not command. I am a witness to this. I, Hashem, have spoken” (Jeremiah 29:23). As a result, anyone who claims to have a history of involving themselves in adulterous affairs is simply perceived by our society as a false witness whose words cannot be taken serious and could never be a member of our society and instruct in biblical matter.

Though we may not enforce this divinely inspired rule of death upon adulterers at the current moment; however, the Bible does inform us that the Heavenly Father will exercise divine justice on behalf of those who fall prey to the enemy’s trap, a divine justice that is for this current life and the world to come.
As per the Heavenly Father’s divine justice for this current life, the Bible teaches just exactly what will take place upon those who do partake in such foolishness.

36 This is what the Sovereign One says: Because you have poured out your lust and exposed yourself in prostitution to all your lovers, and because you have worshiped detestable idols, and because you have slaughtered your children as sacrifices to your gods, 37 this is what I am going to do. I will gather together all your allies—the lovers with whom you have sinned, both those you loved and those you hated—and I will strip you naked in front of them so they can stare at you. 38 I will punish you for your murder and adultery. I will cover you with blood in my jealous fury. 39 Then I will give you to these many nations who are your lovers, and they will destroy you. They will knock down your pagan shrines and the altars to your idols. They will strip you and take your beautiful jewels, leaving you stark naked. 40 They will band together in a mob to stone you and cut you up with swords. 41 They will burn your homes and punish you in front of many women. I will stop your prostitution and end your payments to your many lovers. (Ezekiel 16:36-41)
If you do not think that this is divine justice, do not be foolish. Those who partake in adultery will be stripped of all their possessions. Also, as opposed to exercising sovereignty over the people and teaching the commandments of Elohim, they will be made subjected to the authorities of the gentile nations where they will be made a mockery for all to witness.

The Heavenly Father’s divine justice does not end with such a public display. As per the Heavenly Father’s divine justice for the world to come, the Bible teaches the simplicity of the matter.

9 Don't you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of Elohim? Don't fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, 10 or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of Elohim. (1 Corinthians 6:9-10)

In other words, not only will the Heavenly Father make such a person a public spectacle in this current life, they too will face the fires of Abbadon. Spiritual Adultery             There exists a form of adultery that many Messianic Congregations would not dare make mention of, spiritual adultery.

"They defiled themselves by their evil deeds, and their love of idols was adultery in Hashem’s sight” (Psalm 106:39), the Bible says. This means that when a Messianic Jewish Congregation intermingles with another Congregation that is NOT Torah Observant, then the entire community is guilty of committing spiritual adultery against Elohim. How? “[…] They commit adultery and love dishonesty. They encourage those who are doing evil so that no one turns away from their sins (violations of Torah). These prophets are as wicked as the people of Sodom and Gomorrah once were” (Jeremiah 23:14), the Bible says.

I’m quite sure that there were genuine, sincere Baal worshippers back in the day. Now in days, they don’t exist. Their community is completely wiped off from the face of the earth. I’m quite sure that there too were genuine, sincere worshippers of Osiris. Likewise, none of their communities exist today. As a result, ANY Messianic Jewish Congregation that participates with another Congregation that is NOT a descendent of the household of Israel and does not maintains true to the commandments prescribed in Torah is simply guilty of spiritual adultery.
“It’s about love, not hate. LOVE thy neighbor?”Just because we’re commanded to love our neighbor, that doesn’t mean that we’re to engage in sexual immoral acts with them (i.e., spiritual adultery). The means by which we demonstrate our true genuine love for them is by teaching them Torah and providing them with an opportunity to turn to Elohei Israel. If they refuse to listen to the Heavenly Father’s instructions, then we should have no part with them. If anything, we should just keep such Congregation in our prayers that their minds may be enlightened with the truth of Elohim.

I reason that one of the biggest mistakes that many Messianic Jewish Congregations have done was to fall under the umbrella of Christian Organizations. You can observe several things from these Messianic Jewish Congregations that do involve themselves with Christian Organizations. Firstly, you will notice that their leadership has a tendency to be dishonest. Also, you will notice that these Congregations are involved in all sorts of usury. Lastly, you’ll notice that these Messianic Congregations are NOT feeding the flock with the true light that can only come from Yeshua’s example of teaching Torah. Sadly, they become quite a deceptive organization and cause others to suffer spiritually.

As for myself, I cannot compromise what the Scriptures teach. Nehr HaOlam will not engage with such communities. Until Messiah’s return to execute the Heavenly Father’s divine justice, we pray that you continue to remain holy even as He is Holy.
